Description:
In this paper, the possibility to use non-linear CRLH (Composite Right-/Left-Handed) cells to realize distributed frequency doubler is investigated analytically and numerically. It is shown that for balanced CRLH cells, high conversion efficiency for a large input frequency bandwidth may be obtained. Moreover, it is demonstrated that the frequency doubler based on non-linear CRLH cells needs low number of cells comparing to the classical distributed frequency doubler consisting of series inductances and parallel capacitances.
