Description:
In this work we investigate the radiating performance of endfire one-dimensional (1-D) leaky-wave antennas (LWAs). It is seen that, as the phase constant increases beyond the ordinary endfire conditon, the beamwidth narrows, while the sidelobe level increases. The resulting tradeoff is evaluated here through numerical simulations. These results have been tested for several practical radiation efficiencies, considering a typical antenna length. Such an analysis is useful for more efficient design of 1-D LWAs radiating at endfire.
